Renewing a student visa is a less time-consuming process than the initial application. Moreover, it is not necessary to leave Spain to renew the visa.
The filing is done electronically through a lawyer or in person by the student at the Registry. The lawyer of the school provides the service of electronic filing of documents. The cost of the service is 250 euros.

You can start the application process two months before your student card expires.
It is better to apply before the end of the student card, even though the student will have another 90 days to apply if he/she has not made the deadline. It is important to remember: even if the student submits the documents in the 90 days after the end of the visa, they will not count towards the extension.
Visa renewal for language courses (including Catalan) will only be possible once. Those who renewed their visa before May 2025 even once, won’t be able to do it again after May 20, 2025 .
To switch to a work residence permit, students must first complete:
Vocational training
Bachelor's or Master's degree
Students must present a recognized university diploma or High school/ secondary school diploma (un diploma o título escolar homologado). Only after completing one of these programs can an application for a residence permit be submitted.
Fill in an application form EX-00.
A scan of all pages of the passport and your TIE front and back.
Fill in, print out and pay the 790 052 tax . You can pay after the submission it in any Spanish bank.
Prolong you medical insurance policy for the period equal to your studies.
Ask for a certified last years transcript (certificado de aprovechamiento) at the reception of your academic center. In addition to the course completion certificate, students must submit one of the following documents:
DELE Certificate
Proof of DELE exam registration
SIELE Certificate
Get a receipt of payment and admission letter of the new academic year (Matrícula).
Order a certificate in your Spanish bank that proves that you have sufficient means to stay for the whole period of your studies. The minimum funds required is €600,00 a month. Multiply it on a number of months you are to stay and you will come up with a required sum. You can order a balance certificate online.
If you have changed your residence (empadronamiento), you must present the updated certificate of registration (volante del padrón).
