The DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language) is the official Spanish language certification issued by the Instituto Cervantes. It is internationally recognised and valid for life.
DELE diplomas certify your level of Spanish proficiency and are accepted by universities, companies, and public institutions around the world.
You can take the exam at the following levels:
A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2, as well as versions adapted for young learners (DELE A1 Escolar and A2/B1 Escolar).
The DELE exam evaluates four core language skills:
Reading comprehension
Listening comprehension
Written expression and interaction
Oral expression and interaction
Exam day schedule:
The written tests (reading, listening and writing) are held on the official exam date, typically from 8:45 AM to 12:00 PM.
The oral test is scheduled separately by the exam centre. It may or may not fall on the same day as the written parts.
DELE exams are held several times per year, typically in: February, April, May, July, September, October, and November.

Registration must be completed several weeks before the exam date. You must register online via the official Instituto Cervantes platform.
During the registration process, select the level you wish to take and choose Freeda Language Space (Barcelona) as your exam centre.

On the day of the exam, you must present:
A valid and original identification document (passport and NIE or valid residence card)
The information must match exactly the data you used during registration.
Your official proof of registration
(receipt or PDF provided by the Instituto Cervantes)
Access to the exam will not be allowed without these documents.
Materials provided by Freeda
You don’t need to bring pencils, erasers or paper.
All exam materials will be provided by Freeda on the day of the test.
When will DELE results be available?
The Instituto Cervantes publishes DELE results approximately 2 to 3 months after the exam.
You’ll receive an email notification once your results are ready.
You can check them through your personal account on the same platform where you registered.
If you pass, you’ll first receive a digital certificate, followed by the official printed diploma, valid for life.
