Ricardo Rey Rodriguez
Our most experienced teacher Ricardo is from León, one of the cities with the most Roman influence in Spain. He is our Head of Studies. He has traveled extensively and speaks Spanish, English, German and a little Russian. His first class was in Granada in 2001 and since then he has not stopped teaching. If we talk about the experience we talk about Ricardo. You won’t be able to leave his classroom without homework. Grammar is of utmost importance for him, but he always feels the spirit of the class and he knows perfectly how to adapt to it. When asked how he prepares his classes his response is the following: “Classes are like a puzzle and everything is interconnected.” For him, teaching is a mixture of organization, creativity, and a sense of humor.
Helena is one of our most experienced teachers and she’s been with us the longest. She is our Academic Coordinator and teaching ELE is definitely her cup of tea. What we like about her the most is that she is flexible and fun to learn Spanish with. She is aware of students’ needs and knows exactly what approach to use to help them reach their maximum potential, furthermore her classes are extremely personalized. She has almost 20 years of experience passionately teaching Spanish, and that adds to the fact that she is a very open and positive person.
Mario Santarén Villafrela
This is Mario, our teacher from Seville. Mario loves to travel, and that led him to give his first Spanish class in the Philippines, since then he is certain that this is what he loves doing. He speaks English, although he does not like to use in the classroom, he believes it is more practical to create the cognitive concepts in Spanish right away, so his students learn faster. Mario is quite rigid in following his course program, but he also knows how important it is to leave time for students’ questions and doubts. He is a very outgoing teacher and enjoys sharing experiences in class, so the conversation will be another thing that you will practice a lot with him.
Vicky speaks oodles of languages: Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Turkish, and a little Russian. She says she started learning languages in childhood and it’s been her vocation ever since. It was clear that she would end up teaching Spanish. She has acquired the Master in ELE and has taken the ELE course for children. Her academic background complemented by 10 years of professional experience makes Vicky a highly-qualified teacher. She is observant, so when it comes to resolving doubts or overcoming language obstacles, she is there to help you with supplementary material. Vicky is always browsing through Spanish reference books to help you out the best way possible. She doesn’t stick to any specific teaching method, she has created her own that embraces the best attributes of each one.
Meritxell Pedro Casulla
She is one of our most polyglot teachers: Spanish, Catalan, English, French, Japanese and a little bit of Italian and Portuguese. Therefore, she knows very well what it is like to study languages and be able to start accumulating knowledge from the very first lesson. She believes that Spanish is a communication tool and a very beautiful language that represents many different cultures and opens many doors. Her love for languages and other cultures along with a strong desire to help people resulted in her work choice. Txell has been working in FreeDa for 3 years and has also worked in various schools before. Being very organized she plans her classes in a very detailed manner. Her resourcefulness is key to entertaining and engaging classes since she knows how to make use of all the materials she has at her disposal and turns chores into adventures. Talking of adventures, Txell is also Events Coordinator of the school.
Lara María Fuentes Martinez
Lara came to work with us from Madrid, to be precise from a neighboring town in the mountains, where she is from. Lara has been teaching languages for more than 10 years, living in Granada, Amsterdam, and Bristol and her level of English is something impressive. Lara has obtained a degree in Education Studies in England and has been teaching Spanish since 2013. So she knows exactly how to organize her classes: interaction and humor are the core of her teaching method. Her classes are structured in a way students practice all the language aspects in a dynamic and creative environment. Don’t be scared to make a mistake while with Lara, she believes it is an important part of a learning process. She is a very happy and kind person, who knows how to make the most of every moment in class, so you can’t help but learn new things with her all the time.
Iván Capilla Bertos
Ivan is Andalusian, from Granada. He speaks Catalan, English and Spanish. He has been working with us a bit more than a year, but he has already become one of our most creative and innovative teachers. He is very dynamic and you will feel at ease with him in no time. He will make you speak Spanish the second you meet because for him there is no valid excuse not to speak it. Another thing we like about Ivan is that he knows how to adapt immediately, he knows exactly what the group needs, and points out what should be revised by each and every student. That’s why he will help you to maximize your learning capabilities. He is a very energetic and empathetic person, and that is why he is an exceptional teacher who will help you not only to learn Spanish but to enjoy the process to its fullest.
Félix Abreu Delgado
Felix is from the Canary Islands, from Tenerife. That means that his Spanish includes all the different characteristics of speaking. In fact, he tells us that for him real Spanish is in Latin America. He is passionate about literature, music, and cinema and you will notice it in his classes. He follows the communicative approach and he encourages laughter in class. It is crucial for him that you enjoy the learning process, and therefore he prepares dynamic and fun classes. He has been teaching Spanish for over 2 years since he finished the Master of ELE, so he is up-to-date on news in language teaching. Apart from teaching in school, his experience includes giving classes in NGOs. He always has a plan A, B, and C depending on the mood and needs of his students.
Daniel Walter Aranda
You know there is a vast variety of Spanish dialects, don’t you? Daniel, our most international teacher, is from Argentina, where they also have their distinctive accent. He speaks English and some Italian and French. He is a Spanish teacher and a philosopher by profession. That is why he tells us that in his classes not only do we learn Spanish, but we also learn to think in another language, understand a different culture and change our perspective on the world a little. He says that, for this reason, his classes are a challenge to him and that there is nothing more rewarding for a teacher than seeing the growth of students. He considers it key to be able to communicate, so he focuses on the communicative approach and strives to hear his students and adapt to their needs.
To ensure that the training procedure is as effective as possible, classes are held in small groups or individually. This makes it possible to closely monitor each student, identify problems and solve them immediately.
Furthermore, we host a large number of activities, such as language exchange meet-ups, parties, games and daytrips.
This is how we make learning process interactive and efficient at the same time.
Our school is specialized in Spanish, Russian, English and Catalan languages.
We offer an extensive range of training programs to ensure that you will find the one in line with your demands and preferences.
FreeDa assists with the process of obtaining the Student’s visa and supports students at all stages of the preparation and training.
